Ever wondered where is my base when I am back in Indonesia? Well, I will always be around, depends on the choices of the cities and what side my coin shows. Despite that, starting from January to early February, I'll be in Pontianak, West Kalimantan.
Two years ago, I spent my Chinese New Year in Pontianak, and I find it really memorable. There has been no place populated by majority Chinese people in Indonesia, celebrates Chinese New Year like people in Pontianak and Singkawang (about 2 hours drive from Pontianak) do.
All the cakes, lanterns, fireworks, fresh painted houses, red cheongsams and many more. Will upload couple pictures and show you all how does it feel to be in the middle of the fiesta later on in Chinese New Year.
The Town and Its Port
I used to wander around in this town when I was a kid, sitting on the left side of my daddy's car, looking out from the window, staring at the passerby with their own activities and places with their names written on the boards.
There was once when I took a 'Becak' ride to go back home. From far, I saw a huge crane, carrying a big red coloured box and put it on top of the other boxes. I wondered, what was inside those boxes? However, I was only able to stare from the distance, did not know what's inside, and did not dare to get my curiosity answered.
As I grow older, I figured the answer by my own, but the place I once glanced, had left more than one inquiry on my mind. It was amazing I had a chance to step on this place. An old yet a new place for me.
Sometimes, some places would not look as they were before, some might even disappear. It was a luck that this port still stay the same.
Don't hesitate to follow your curiosity and discover places before those places had gone. One day when you are asked about a long lost place, you would be grateful to say, "I've been there."
Never been a home person until home gives you the best treat.
Good day people, I am officially back to Indonesia, my hometown, Pontianak, West Kalimantan, and my routines when my coin shows me picture side. Sadly, but great thing will come to those who wait right? :)
During this semester break, I'm kicking ass for progress. Starting from mandarin preparation, workout and of course healthy lifestyle. All of those, I do it at home.
This was the best lunch I've ever had this week. These tempe, carrot and green mustard are unsalted, no sugar added, and the dipping was actually made by ginger, turmeric, squeezed lime and chilli. Don't forget to drink a glass of water 30 minutes before eating up your main food :)
A perfect morning is made after drinking a cup of milk, don't you feel the same way? With additional of Guavas and Rose Apple as an appetiser. Oatmeal and Kiwi as the main dish :)
Guava and Rose Apple has all the vitamins that your body needs, and kiwi, just love love the taste of Kiwi.
These Guava, Rose Apple and Mangoes are planted by my dad himself.
Choosing wholemeal instead of white bread, boiled eggs rather than fried eggs, and your body will thank you. Guava is always in every plate because Guava supplied is like rain here.
Black rice porridge, kiwis and mangoes, never been too much of eating these.
Durian is just irresistible here, especially Chinese New Year is near and people are selling Durian all over the streets, but not too much.
You will never regret eating clean, or regretting not eating out. I feel that the nature has given us anything that we need, enjoy it :)
